MCC Gunsmithing Students Return to SHOT Show

With the pandemic behind them, 24 MCC Gunsmithing students and two instructors made their annual pilgrimage to attend the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s SHOT Show in Las Vegas in January. The students, members of MCC’s Gunsmithing Club, sold enough raffle tickets during the organization’s fall fundraiser to pay for attendee travel and housing. With students bringing their own money for food and entertainment, the group arrived in Nevada for work and fun. SHOT Show is the firearms industry’s largest trade-related event, with thousands of vendors, roughly 60,000 attendees, and 15+ miles of aisles. “This experience provides an opportunity for MCC students to see the breadth of the industry, see the

These tasty, hot cylinders are a common companion to Chinese takeout in America, however two Troy-based entrepreneurs have made eggrolls an entrée, moving far beyond the typical pork and cabbage option. Ronny Xiong’s family heritage is Hmong, an ethnic group hailing from Southwest China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar. An Accidental Beekeeper

In the summer of 2007, Shirley Harris noticed her cucumbers were growing really well. She and husband Tony had always grown some for eating and pickling, but this particular season the vines were producing more cucumbers of exceptional quality than ever before. “It had very little to do with our gardening capabilities,” Shirley now admits. “Our neighbor installed a new heating system, and a wooden box ended up in their side yard, and in the process, a swarm of honeybees moved in.” At the time, Tony and Shirley weren’t sure they wanted the bees around, so they called a local beekeeper who came to have a look. “The bees were
