MCC and Pfeiffer University Sign Articulation Agreement

Officials from both Montgomery Community College and Pfeiffer University were on hand to sign an articulation agreement between the two institutions. The agreement is intended to create a pathway for the seamless transfer of credits upon graduation from MCC and admission into Pfeiffer University. A student entering Pfeiffer University with an earned associate’s degree from MCC will be designated a transfer student and will be registered with Junior class status at Pfeiffer. The MCC associate’s degrees which qualify for the articulation agreement are: Associate in Arts- Business Administration, Associate in Applied Science- Nursing, Associate in Arts- Criminal Justice, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation and Associate in Science

MCC and RCC Celebrating Truck Driving Grads

Montgomery Community College and Richmond Community College graduated their first combined Truck Driver Training class this month. All seven students who started the program graduated from the program and earned their commercial driver’s license. The graduation ceremony occurred on Tuesday, August 20th, with welcome words delivered by college presidents Dr. Chad Bledsoe and Dr. Dale McInnis, of Montgomery Community College and Richmond Community College, respectively. The MCC Foundation Welcomes New Director

The Foundation at Montgomery Community College is pleased to welcome Susanna Kornegay as its new Director of Resource Development. Kornegay is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where she studied Electronic Media and Broadcasting and Dance. A lifelong resident of Troy, Kornegay comes to MCC from Montgomery County Schools where she served as its Director of Marketing and Strategic Communications and a teacher to English Language Learners. “I am so proud to be working here at MCC, truly a cornerstone of our community. I am from here originally, and I returned after college because I intend to build a life here and be a part of Montgomery County’s future success.”

MCC Pins Its 2024 Nursing Classes

Twenty-one students, eleven with an Associate Degree in Nursing and ten from the Practical Nursing program, received a commemorative pin and a nurse’s candle to remember their accomplishments. MCC Foundation Golf Tournament Sets Fundraising Record

The MCC Foundation’s 26th Annual Earle A. Connelly Golf Tournament was a huge success, thanks to the event sponsors and the nineteen teams who competed this year. The April 12th event brought in over $20,000, the highest amount yet!  The winner of this year’s tournament was the Colonial LP Gas team, of Troy. Meet Our SGA President, Sasha Eury

Sasha Eury is the 2023-2024 president of MCC’s Student Government Association. She is currently a healthcare technician at Stanly Regional Medical Center, where she started her career in healthcare 17 years ago as a recovery audit contractor. Sasha will graduate in May 2024 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Appalachian State University starting in Fall 2024. Sasha has enjoyed her role as an MCC Ambassador, in addition to her term as president. MCC Foundation Hosts Fifth Annual Shooting Clay Tournament

Fifteen teams comprised of 60 shooters headed down to Ellerbe on a gorgeous fall morning for the MCC Foundation’s fifth annual Shooting Clay Tournament. DeWitt’s Outdoor Sports hosted the competition which featured 14 shooting stations with two shooting boxes at each station. The course, over a mile long, winds through wooded areas, fields and duck pond habitats. The annual contest also offers a flurry shoot, where all team members aim at clays released simultaneously from DeWitt’s state-of-the-art automated traps. “This event is one of our favorites, and is becoming very popular. We had 15 teams participate this year, our highest count yet,” explains Emily Tucker, MCC’s Director of Resource Development.

Montgomery Community College normally celebrates a fall Manufacturing Day, but this year they decided to expand the reach of the event to all businesses, not just manufacturers, calling it Made in Montgomery Day! Companies in attendance included Troy Lumber, Mohawk Industries, Inc., Saputo, Inc., Mountaire Farms, FirstHealth of the Carolinas, Sandy Ridge Assisted Living, NEXT Gen, Montgomery County Schools, Myrick Construction, Southern Corrections – Department of Adult Corrections and McGee Brothers- Carolina Masonry Services. On October 25th, companies set up tables under a big white tent located between Montgomery Central High School and MCC. Richmond Community College is expanding its Truck Driver Training program into Montgomery County thanks to a partnership with Montgomery Community College. Thousands of Meals from MLK “Day On” Event at MCC

Approximately 75 volunteers met at Montgomery Community College to package nearly 10,000 meals in a half-day of service on January 23, 2023. Volunteers from MCC (students, faculty and staff), Communities in Schools, 4-H, Youth Leadership Montgomery, Eckerd Connects, East Middle School, Montgomery County Early College and Troy Rotary participated in the 13th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. “Day On” Challenge. Montgomery Community College was the recipient of a Randolph Electric Member Corporation People Helping People Sharing Success Community Grant. The funds totaling $2,000 supported the meal preparation event. Over 9,500 sealed meals were bagged and placed into boxes that were distributed to Montgomery County Food Pantries and the Backpack Pals program, providing nutritious
