MCC Pins Its 2024 Nursing Classes

Twenty-one students, eleven with an Associate Degree in Nursing and ten from the Practical Nursing program, received a commemorative pin and a nurse’s candle to remember their accomplishments. Meet Our SGA President, Sasha Eury

Sasha Eury is the 2023-2024 president of MCC’s Student Government Association. She is currently a healthcare technician at Stanly Regional Medical Center, where she started her career in healthcare 17 years ago as a recovery audit contractor. Sasha will graduate in May 2024 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Appalachian State University starting in Fall 2024. Sasha has enjoyed her role as an MCC Ambassador, in addition to her term as president. Brittany Vaughn and Michelle Morgan took very different paths on their journeys to become nurses, but fate brought them together at Montgomery Community College. MCC Delivers Firearms Training to Special Team of Soldiers

Montgomery Community College welcomed a special guest to campus in June, Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Reummler from the Fort Bragg Army Base. A friend of MCC Gunsmithing Instructor Matthew R. Mutarelli, Reummler was onsite to present certificates of appreciation to both Mutarelli and gunsmithing student Lew Jones. The two MCC representatives developed and taught a customized firearms training class for seven students under Reummler’s command: a cohort of U.S. Army nurse anesthetists! A nurse anesthetist is an advanced-practice nurse who administers anesthesia for surgery or other medical procedures. Montgomery Community College Associate Degree in Nursing Program Earns State Board Approval

Effective Friday, May 28, 2021, Montgomery Community College’s Associate Degree in Nursing Program will have full approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON). NCBON establishes the standards for nursing education programs preparing for nursing licensure. These standards are designed to ensure that graduates have the necessary education to safely and competently practice nursing. MCC started its application for NCBON approval in 2018. The College’s application was approved, which initiated a customary two-year probation period. During this period of time, MCC kept a consistent nursing curriculum and content delivery system in place, culminating in the graduation of its first cohort of nurse candidates in May 2021. Trailblazer to Share Nursing Talents in Her Community

Madison Bullins knew during her tenure at North Moore High School that a career in healthcare was in her future. Biomedical and health science classes sparked her interest, and a senior year spent in a Certified Nurse Assistant program sealed the deal. MCC Nursing Grads Celebrate Graduation in Drive-Thru Pinning Ceremony

A cohort of fifteen students completed Montgomery Community College’s (MCC) Practical Nursing Diploma Program. The nine-month term began in August 2019, and finished this summer, punctuated by today’s pinning ceremony which took place between masked faculty and grads and family members in vehicles. “Someday, this is going to be a very interesting story that today’s nursing graduates can tell their friends,” acknowledged MCC President Chad Bledsoe. “I started my medical career during the pandemic of 2020; we were masked and practiced social distancing for graduation!” The cohort, comprised of 14 women and one man each received a commemorative pin, a nurse’s cap as well as a pottery candle keepsake.
